All services are available to past and present victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse, incest, stranger rape, forcible date rape, drug-facilitated date rape, intimate partner rape, rape of children or teens by parent/elder relatives/other responsible elders, statutory rape, group rape, college campus rape, prison rape, and rape as means of warfare.
Crisis Intervention:
Refers to in-person crisis intervention, emotional support, guidance and counseling provided by advocates, counselors, mental health professionals, or peers. Such counseling may occur at the scene of the crime, immediately after a crime, or be provided on an ongoing basis. [Top]
Information/Referral(in person): Refers to in-person contacts with victims during which time services and available support are identified. Information on sexual assault will be provided. Referrals may include the following: [Top]
Group Treatment/Support : Refers to the coordination and provision of supportive group activities and includes peer, social support, etc.and is trauma-specific.
Therapy : Refers to intensive professional psychological and/or psychiatric treatment for individuals, couples, and family members arising from the occurrence of a crime. This includes the evaluation of mental health needs, as well as the actual delivery of psychotherapy that is trauma-specific.
Courtroom Advocacy: Refers to support, assistance, and advocacy provided to victims at any stage of the criminal justice process, to include post-sentencing services and support. [Top]
Personal Advocacy: Refers to assisting victims in securing rights, remedies, and services from other agencies; locating emergency financial assistance, intervening with employers, creditors, and others on behalf of the victim; assisting in filing for losses covered by public and private insurance programs including workman’s compensation, unemployment benefits, welfare, etc.; accompanying the victim to the hospital; etc. [Top]
Victim Notification: The Victims Rights Amendment that was passed in Colorado makes us responsible to notify the victim when there is a change in status for the offender. Victims of serious crimes, including sexual assault, learn where their attackers are held, projected release dates and if an escape occurs. [Top]
Assistance with Protection Orders: Refers to filing temporary restraining orders, injunctions and other protective orders, elder abuse petitions, and child abuse petitions but does not include criminal prosecution or the employment of attorneys for non-emergency purposes, such as custody disputes, civil suits, etc. [Top]
Victim Compensation Assistance: Refers to making the victim aware of the Crime Victim Compensation Fund. May also include providing assistance with completing the required forms, gathering the needed documentation, etc. in addition to follow-up contact with the Victim Compensation agency on behalf of the victim. Community Awareness Presentations:
Presentations designed to provide awareness and education to community members on areas specific to sexual assault. [Top]
Forensic Interviews:
Forensic Interviews are services offered to children ages 3-17 and also to developmentally disabled adults. These interviews give victims back power to feel safe in their immediate environment as they are conducted in a place that is non-threatening and questions are formulated in such a way that they are not misleading, confusing, or intimidating. These interviews put the victim first and provide a thorough assessment of what happened to the victim as well as what resources he/she is in need of. [Top]
