Agency History:
- High Plains Sexual Assault Center, formerly known as the Logan County Sexual Assault Team, has been in existence since 1978 through 1994. This team was sole agency providing crisis intervention, counseling and education to victims of sexual assault in Logan County. In 1995, the Logan County Sexual Assault Team was assimilated into the parent agency of High Plains Easter Seals Society, in keeping with Easter Seal’s mission of helping victims of violence. Services were expanded to the 13th Judicial District and the name of the Sexual Assault Team was changed to High Plains Sexual Assault to reflect this expansion in the geographical service area. In 1997, High Plains Easter Seals dissolved itself, and the High Plains Sexual Assault Center gained it’s own 501c(3) non-profit status.

Agency Goals:
* Consistent with the mission, the Center has identified five primary goals which it considers essential for a sexual assault center. They are:
- Access to intervention and information on a twenty-four hours basis for emergency and non-emergency events. This is accomplished through advertising that our phone number is available 24 hours each and every day.
- Access to recovery programs. This is accomplished through contracted counseling services. Counseling is provided in a manner which best meets the survivor’s needs, which can be individual, group and/or family counseling.
- Access to educational/prevention programs and services. This is accomplished through educational programs which are presented to students preschool through post secondary school within this geographical area. This includes displaying the Center’s information, resource information, statistical information, and educational information at student and community health fairs.
- Access to victim’s right and the victim compensation process in Colorado. This is accomplished through personal contact with victims as well as access to brochures explaining Victim Rights in Colorado.
- Access to knowledgeable professionals who can work closely with victims/survivors during any procedure relating sexual assault. This is accomplished through coordination communication and efforts of all the parties involved.
