Hot For The Holidays!

How would you like to start 2015 in the best shape you’ve ever been in?  We are going to be running an 8 week Hot For The Holidays Challenge.  It will begin November 1st and run through December 27th.  Right before the beginning of 2015 – Which will be the BEST year of your life!

You’ll be measuring your success over the 8 weeks of the challenge using a system of points.
There are 2 ways that you’ll be able to earn points for the challenge.
1. Daily points for eating Paleo, Drinking at least ¾ of your body weight in ounces of water, taking a daily supplement (fish oil, vitamins, glutamine, etc.), working out, and getting at least 6 hours of sleep every night, along with bonus points for doing 10 min of mobilization and 10 min of positive visualization (more on this later) daily.
2. Benchmark workout — performed at the beginning and end of the challenge
Daily Points & Bonus Points
Each participant will be able to earn a maximum of 9 points per day (7 daily points and 2 bonus points). You must record your points daily.
1. Eat real food. Lean Meat, seafood, eggs, vegetables, nuts, seeds, fruit, oils (like EVOO or coconut, walnut, avocado). Eat foods with very few ingredients, all pronounceable ingredients, or better yet, no ingredients listed at all because they’re fresh and natural.
2. Do not eat dairy. This includes butter, cheese, yogurt and milk (including cream in your coffee).
3. Do not eat grains. This includes bread, rice, pasta, corn, oatmeal, and also any gluten-free pseudo-grains (quinoa, etc).
4. Do not eat legumes. This includes beans of all kinds, lentils, and peanuts. No peanut butter!
5. Do not eat sugars of any kind, real or artificial. No maple syrup, agave nectar, Splenda, Truvia, Stevia, etc.
6. Do not eat processed foods. This is most stuff that has multiple ingredients.
7. Do not drink alcohol, in any form. (Every 8 oz or 1 shot = -1 point)
You will start each day with 3 Nutrition Points. Every time you eat something you shouldn’t you must subtract a point for the day. For example if you have cream in your coffee you then only have 2 points. Eat a bagel – subtract another point and so on. If you have a question about whether something counts as a point or not, ask and we’ll figure out an answer.
Earn one point per day that you:
1. Get 6+ hours of sleep.
2. Drink at least ¾ of your body weight in ounces of water.
3. Take a daily supplement (fish oil, vitamins, glutamine, etc.).
4. Complete a WOD at CrossFit Chatsworth or have an Active Rest Day (10 min of walking, swimming, jogging, bike riding, etc.) No more than 1 point per day.
Earn one bonus point per day for doing 10 min of stretching or mobilization.
Earn one bonus point per day for doing 10 min of positive visualization. What this means is:
You must visualize your life EXACTLY as you want it to be. Really try and feel it. Make yourself believe it is already a reality. The MOST important part about this is to keep everything in the positive. Don’t think I don’t want this or that because you will only think about the negative things you don’t want. ONLY think about things you DO want as if they are already a part of your life.
Points are awarded on the honor system.
We will be using a spreadsheet to keep track of your points electronically on Google. What this means is you need to have a Google account to participate. You will be able to log your points on a computer, smart phone, or tablet. For your smart phone or tablet you can download the Google app “Sheets” which is free to make it even easier.
If you’re wondering why this challenge doesn’t include points for pounds / inches / percent body fat lost? It’s because living the Paleo Lifestyle isn’t about weight loss, it’s about health. Changes in body composition are just a bonus.

Benchmark WOD
To measure performance gains, we’ll be doing a benchmark WOD at the beginning and end of the challenge.
The number of points awarded for improvement on the benchmark WOD — TBD.

The cost for joining this competition and getting in the best shape of your life is only $39!  Please register at the gym.
